***COMING SOON*** In addition to our regular advertising listed below,
we will begin offering specialty advertising within
Unofficial Pacoima, our very own directory of business within the
San Fernando Valley. Stay tuned for details. Unofficial Pacoima
specifically caters to people researching vacations and trips to the
San Fernando Valley.
***NOW ONLINE*** Specialty area advertising is now online at The News Letter. It
runs as a popup of the two most popular pages (Headlines and Archives)
at a wallet pleasing $100 per banner per quarter. The News Letter
receives approximately 1000 hits per month.
Thanks so much for taking the time to come to our advertising rates
page. Our rates are amazingly competitive, and your banner impressions
will receive a guaranteed audience of 6,000 unique visitors per month
(based on our statistics via CGI cookies--approximately 4,400 unique
pageviews in Summer; 6,600 in Fall; 10,400 in Winter; 4,800 in Spring
per month). ***GRAND OPENING*** events frequently generate
significantly higher pageviews. It is not unusual for ***GRAND
OPENING*** events to generate an extra 700 unique pageviews per day
during their first few days. Actual page views will be significantly
higher than this, as CGI cookies only count each visitor once per
session (exception - certain firewall configurations may cause each
pageview to register as a unique view). Pacoima Ranch is a
content-rich site of more than seven-thousand (7000) pages and has
been online continuously since October 15, 1996.
Our basic advertising rates are based on a monthly or quarterly basis
rather than a per-click basis. Run Of Site refers to a banner
being in " The Pacoima Ranch Exchange" throughout the hundreds of
pages that spawn this popup as they load. Run Of Site banners
will appear in the Pacoima Ranch Exchange popup. Static
refers to the banner being hardcoded into the page so that it is the
very first sponsor banner seen (multiple page rates available), though
Pacoima Ranch Exchange banners may appear on any page. Static
sponsor banners will be constantly viewable on the page into which
they are hardcoded. You select the page or pages you would like the
banner to be on, though please note that banners may not appear on any
Perl or JavaScript generated pages. Banners may not be hardcoded into
the pages of The News
Letter, advertising in this area is available as a popup only. We
will contact you immediately if a page is "sold out". Static
sponsor banners are always displayed immediately above the Pacoima
Ranch Counter as the first banner on a page. This is an exact
representation (font colors will match page) of an actual Pacoima
Ranch sponsor's banner in a Static mode:
The top line of text "visit our sponsor, they're absolutely great",
contains text links to your site, the banner contains links to your
site, and the line underneath contains a link back to this page.
Banners should be ready-to-go in the webstandard 468x60 size in either
the animated .gif (Web Graphic) or animated .swf (Shockwave Flash)
format. File size should be under 11K. Shockwave Flash banners should
be run through After Shock (or the newer "Generate HTML" features of
Flash 4, 5 and MX-6) with the static .gif and After Shock .htm
forwarded with the banner. The basic URL and any soundeffects should
be builtin, with the URL being a onClick GetURL. Animated .gif's may
be forwarded as is, with the URL noted. If using HotSpot technology in
FireWorks, please ensure that the URL Behavior is TARGET="_blank".
URL's will always be appended to open as TARGET="_blank" to ensure
that your URL is actually reached and opened on all clicks. Built-in
URL's in Flash panels should be TARGET="_blank". Banners which
automatically force the browser to the sponsor's site as part of the
pageload or as an onMouseover are not allowed. Banners must contain
the onClick option if in Flash Shockwave (.swf's). Banners may not
contain Java (limited exemption for .swf), JavaScript (limited
exemption for .swf), ActiveX codecs (limited exemption for .swf),
VBScriplets (limited exemption for .swf), or similar hooks.
Banners should be stored on the private Pacoima Ranch servers to
ensure rapid deployment and faster page loading. A 1x1 clear.gif
loading from the sponsor's server is allowed and encouraged as an aid
to audit. Server outages on banners not stored on the private Pacoima
Ranch servers affecting page loading is grounds for a banner being
removed from circulation without notice. Extensions and discounts will
not be offered under this circumstance. A copy of the banner (with URL
appended), should be sent to Pacoima Ranch if this occurs, so that we
may load it to our private servers and continue the normal rotation of
the banner. We will contact you if we detect this. We may also load a
local cached copy should we be unable to reach you. Banners will
always remain the intellectual property of the site they advertise.
The panel that spawned as this page loaded is an exact representaion
of how the Run Of Site Pacoima Ranch Exchange popup looks.
Sponsor banners in the Run Of Site category may only be of 11K
or under. Shockwave Flash banners are now fully supported, as are all
rich-text formats which display in Netscape 4.75+ and Internet
Explorer 5.5+. Opera, WebTV and Lynx compatibility is optional. Run
Of Site banners are always in the TARGET="_blank" call mode,
ensuring that your site is always reached when Pacoima Ranch surfers
click on them.
Static sponsor banners may be on any page (subject to
availability) which is not Perl nor JavaScript generated. This
basically means that only the Pacoima Ranch Discussion Boards and the
Pacoima Ranch Guestbook are not available. Only one Static
sponsor banner may be placed on any page. If you select the more
expensive Static option, you will always be the only
Static banner on that page. Run Of Site sponsor banners
may be placed on any of the hundreds of pages that contain the Pacoima
Ranch Exchange.
Here's a list of many of these pages. And yes, we're always open
to suggestions about adding a Pacoima Ranch Exchange panel to a page
so that a Run Of Site sponsor banner popup panel may be
inserted on that page. Here's the current list of Premium
(Static) Advertisers and one of the Pacoima
Ranch Exchange advertisers.

Special Thoughts
Advertising agreements will be bound by the current version of this
page and the law as in force in the City of Los Angeles, County of Los
Angeles, California, United States of America. In the event of
unexpectated downtime, any downtime of more than two hours will cause
the "month" to be extended by one day. The minimum extension will be
one day, the maximum extension will be the actual numbers of days
downtime ocurred. Downtime of less than 24 hours will be treated as a
"two-hour downtime". We will automatically extend the "month" OR
discount the next billing cycle should we detect downtime problems.
You will be contacted, also. Please always feel free to contact us
should you detect this problem. DNS and 'Net backbone problems in your
local area or that of surfers should not be interpreted as downtime.
'Net failures (local ISP/IP/IC) in your local area should not be
interpreted as downtime, nor should 'Net failures (local ISP/IP/IC) of
any surfer. Downtime specifically refers to our being nonaccessible.
Our SLA calls for less than two hours downtime per year, and we've
never had to use it.
Limited refunds will be available only when a sponsor banner has not
been placed for active surfing on the 'Net. A $15 USD fee will be
deducted. NSF (or similar) checks are subject to a minimum of the face
value plus all banking fees incurred. Bad faith on NSF (or similar)
will be treated according to California law (minimum of triple
damages). Stop Payment (or similar) checks will be treated as criminal
fraud.
No guarantee of any kind is offered as regards the actual number of
click throughs generated by any sponsor banner, though our average
click through is just slightly above 1%, which is significantly higher
than the 'Net average. This higher click through is caused by our
targeted promotions. Some banner programs have click throughs as low
as 0.2%. Our basic target surfers are specialty graphics people
(including VRML and other virtual realities), HTML hardcoders, US
Military abroad (all ages, including children and family), children,
families, students, 'Net geeks/nerds, technical people, Citizens of
FortuneCity.com, software developers, 'Net developers, and educators.
All of our sites have a distinct and friendly vision.
Sponsor banners will not be accepted regarding any site engaged in
illegal activity, hate, hate crimes, racism, porno (adult content),
gross violations of the 'Net standard of conduct, any site deemed
unacceptable by Pacoima Ranch, nor most MLM sites. MLM sites may apply
for an exemption, but they will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
MLM sites such as Amway, Avon, Herbalife are automatically exempt from
this due to their truly excellent track records, wonderful products
and product fulfillment. Sorry to be so harsh, but MLM has a
deservedly bad reputation, both with consumers and here at Pacoima
Ranch. We're here for the long haul, not a quick buck. We expect our
sponsors to behave similarly.
