Yellow Poppies New

.: continued from page five :.

I am not the one.

        Which one?
        He is dead.

Did I know this one?

No.
He is dead.

A room of benches, mud, no light.

A strong smell.

Why?

        People die here.

Why?

Because this is a room for dying.

Will I die here?

No.

We did not,
and you will not.

I will not.

I did not

A woman.

Blonde hair, white dress.
She is beautiful.
And dead.

I am hungry, very hungry.

The woman.

Blonde hair, white dress.

I am no longer hungry.

The woman.

Blond hair, white dress.

Part of her is missing.

Inside.

I will hide.

I will stay here.

And hide.

No pain.
No sound.
No warmth.

Here I am safe.

With my brothers and sister inside.

Here we are safe.

With each other.

I sense others.

Beyond the Three Mountains.

I will protect all.
The six sleepers will not harm us.

They are asleep.
Unknowing.
They will not harm us.

These are our songs.

The Songs of the Lower Caves.

Let our songs,
Be added
To the songs
Of Upper Caves.

Honeysuckle New

A Poem

by Mirikin

Leader of the Lower Cave
of the Red Eyed People

Why are we different than other people?

Because our eyes are red!

Why are we different than other people?

Because we move things with our eyes!

Why are we different than other people?

Because we light fires with our eyes!

Why are we different than other people?

Because we bring light with our eyes!

Why are we different than other people?

Because our eyes are red!
