Update (May 4, 2005):
Once again, surgery had to be
postponed (that now makes two times).
A fairly serious heart condition
(COPD - chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease) was discovered minutes
before the planned February surgery.
Due to a light asthma-like condition
since childhood, no-one was aware of
it, but it showed up readily on an
echo test. The surgery was
rescheduled, then aborted the day
before over a potential allergic
reaction to some of the postop
medications.
Update (February 22, 2005):
Due to a rapid and sudden
deteriation in the Senior Editor's
back condition, his neurosurgeon
decided to perform spinal surgery for
the end of this month. For this
reason there was no February issue,
though a March issue is being
uploaded. All stories have "legs" so
they can be simply updated, a much
easier technique than full, original
research.
Update (September 18, 2004):
There was a special double issue for
July and August. No subscriber
version was mailed in either of those
months. Here's links to the major
stories:
Original story (June 2, 2004):
This is sort of an expanded Editor's
Note, but due to a very serious
medical problem involving the Senior
Editor, it is possible (even VERY
likely) for things to remain a tad
irregular as regards publishing dates
for the next many months. There was
no May issue for this reason, plus
part of the month was spent in
hospital. The medical problem is
extremely painful, but not life
threatening.
