NEW TEMPLATES!!!

Update (December 30, 2001):

The entire newly recoded Template Center is now online. Previous visitors may need to "Refresh", as the start page is at the same URL as previously, but the links are all new. The templates themselves are now part of their own directory, with redirector pages being deployed in the next week or so to allow bookmarks to remain as is, yet refresh to the new URL's of the new templates. The Template Center represents Pacoima Ranch's continuing committment to E.Commerce, Newbie webmasters and the belief that many parts of the 'Net should always be free to use.

The tradition of free help continues with these new templates. Free help (first come, first served, time permitting) will be provided to:

Business Park Webring members;
Vision Award winners AND applicants;
• registered Rangers and Rangerettes;
• members of any cybercity freehost; and
• members of webrings to which Pacoima Ranch belongs.

Original story (November 3, 2001):

As part of the PacRanch 2002 Project - an ongoing recoding of all of Pacoima Ranch to HTML 4.01 standards (including CSS2 and X-HTML 1.0), the Template Center will shortly unveil three new templates for E.Commerce sites. These templates will feature up-to-the moment code, glorious graphics and preconfigured PHP scripts. Including preconfigured scripts is a departure from previous collections, but was felt necessary as virtually all good webhosts now allow PHP. PHP is fairly easy to use for the newbie webmaster if the scripts are preconfigured by a more experienced webmaster. They feature the scripting power of the more traditional CGI Perl scripts with the ease of installation and customization of HTML and ASP. PHP is used mostly as a Perl substitute and rivals ASP in acceptance and use. MySQL databases dovetail effortlessly with PHP.

Several sample parts of the first template (The Flower Patch) are already up and running. Since configuring scripts is the harder part, it got done first. The ready to install Message Board and Guestbook are fully functional and online already as they go through their final alpha tests. The engines of these scripts will be used in the other templates.

Current plans call for all of the new templates to be online by January 15, 2002. They will follow the same basic themes as the current templates (Flower Patch, Stone Red, and Wallpaper). Limited free help will be made available, as has been a tradition with these templates since the beginning of the Template Center.
