MAJOR UPGRADES!!!

Update (February 26, 2001):

All Citizens are reminded that offloading is a basic violation of the TOS. Offloading refers to linking a file in their directories at The Portal to another site not at The Portal. This is an example of warehousing or archiving, both of which are bad netiquette as they waste server space and create bandwidth abuses. If you need help using your builtin guestbook or small forum, feel free to let your community webmaster know, and he'll help you make it match the rest of your site. You may use any reasonable graphic or scripting technique on your builtin guestbooks and small forums.

Update (January 30, 2001):

All Citizens sites are now enabled for SSI (Server Side Includes language tags). The Web Tutorial is being rewritten this month to include new articles to allow everyone to use this very special scripting language. Look for more announcements on this and on how to use SSI !!!

Original story (January 1, 2001):

A major upgrade is being performed by Excelland on our servers. Spot outages have occurred, with FTP being offline from December 28, 2000 to January 2, 2001 being the most annoying. When the upgrades are completely finished (estimated for January 5, 2001), site size will be increased, load times will be massively enhanced, and the groundwork for CGI, PHP and FrontPage extensions will have been added to all accounts. An exact schedule for deployment of CGI, PHP and FrontPage extensions isn't promised yet, but CGI deployment will likely be first. More details as information becomes available.
