from June 2003 - Jim Wilson Obituary

One of the titans of the 'Net has left us. Jim Wilson died peacefully on May 6, 2003 of congestive heart failure and the cumulative effects of several strokes. He is survived by his wife, Cathy and Nick, his son.

Jim gave selflessly to all who came to his many sites - JimWorld.COM, JimTools.COM, VirtualPromote.COM, SearchEngineForums.COM and others. Before there were SEO's (search engine optimization experts), Jim taught all who listen how to get into AND stay in the search engines. He continued this practice to the end.

When scumware became a serious problem in 2001, Jim started and led the initial fight to make the public aware of just how damaging predatory advertising, repackaging of commerce, and diversion of sales could be. He showed there were huge hidden costs in real dollars, not just the basic corrosion of ethics scumware represents.

Jim's many sites will continue to operate, the administrators have a full schedule of both small and large changes. Essentially the sites will become more integrated and cross referenced. A fitting tribute to the man who taught so many of us to use the description and keywords Meta Tags.
