Update (July 6, 2001):
Because the master database for the BPRing is kept on a separate server, the database losses mentioned elsewhere in this month's News Letter had no effect and no data (except for courtesy copies of applications) was lost.
Update (June 1, 2001):
Both the Forum and the Chat Room for the BPRing are now online and operational. Selection of moderators has yet to begin. The database from the BPRing's previous Forum was preserved and imported into this new location.
Original story (May 12, 2001):
Successsfully negotiating a shakey and uncertain start after its bold move away from Webring affiliation, the Business Park Webring is once again a major force in E.Commerce webrings. In addition to the forty members who made the initial move, nearly sixty new members have applied and been accepted.
The BP Webring is a member of the RingSurf system, which has none of the odd "lack of privacy" features of Webring that caused BP Ring to decide to abandon Webring affiliation. Current enrollment by new members should push the ring above 200 members again by mid 2002. Members enjoy many privileges: increased hits to their site (including the important "external link" count); higher status as a member of a professional E.Commerce webring; their own Forum (under construction, should be finished by May 18, 2001); and their own Chat Room (under construction, should be finished by May 18, 2001).
Sites in the Business Park Webring have full rights with The News Letter and are encouraged to submit Guest Columnist articles about E.Commerce topics of general interest. They may also opt to shamelessly plug their site by submitting a My Site article. Articles should be submitted as plain text (.txt) to the Community Webmaster.
