Update (October 3, 2002):
All appears well with the Blaxxun community servers. Limited downtime was noticed the third week of September as new servers were brought online. It would appear that a more permanent source of funding has been found. VRML and VRML chat enthusiasts worldwide have expressed relief and gratitude that this important communication method unique to Blaxxun technology continues.
Update (August 30, 2002):
Ongoing internal promotion of the newly acquired Blaxxun Webring has resulted in the creation of the Blaxxun Webring Discussion Board. A text-based chat room is also planned. It will most likely be unveiled later this month or early next month.
In related news, Blaxxun insiders have revealed that the funding currently operating the community servers may run out by the end of September 2002. Affected servers will only be the many VRML chatrooms that do not have a private installation of the Blaxxun Platform technology server. While Blaxxun has once again returned to solid ground after its earlier brush with bankruptcy, the VRML and Blaxxun communities have always understood that allowing surfers in general to set up and deploy VRML chatrooms without an expensive private installation of the Blaxxun Platform technology server has been Blaxxun's gift to VRML progress. More information will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.
Original story (July 29, 2002):
As part of the ongoing internal projects to promote and conserve VRML, Pacoima Ranch Offices is now the official owner of the Blaxxun Webring. The ring had been abandoned for some time, but still had many active users and sites.
In our unique Pacoima Ranch style, the ring has already begun to attract new members, and will come in for an aggressive marketing campaign beginning September 2002. The original mission statement of the ring has been broadened to allow 3D chat and VRML sites to join, as well as any site about Blaxxun. This was felt necessary in case Blaxxun should disappear soon as an active company. The broader mission statement will allow the ring to continue to function in support of 3D chat, VRML, and a repository of Blaxxun information, lore and trivia.
Any site about anything Blaxxun, 3D chat and VRML is actively encouraged to join! Full Pacoima Ranch privileges are extended to all members of the ring.
