Kittens, Kittens Everywhere
The grey cat is Little Bit. Little Bit was one of my favorite cats and
a kitten daughter. Little Bit passed on April 15, 2001 and is sorely
missed. For the story of how Cali and Little Bit came into my life,
click here. I call Cali and Little Bit kitten daughters as I
bottle fed them from about one or two weeks after their birth as their
biological mother had abandoned them. Their father (Barney) was one of
my favorite male cats. He had been left behind when some people moved
out of The Ranch. He moved into my kitchen one day and stayed.
Barney passed in January 1999. He looked amazingly similar to his
daughter, Little Bit.
The calico cat is Cali. She doesn't photograph all that well, being
largely black (also, I'm not a very good photographer!). Cali bears
a striking resemblance to her grandmother and has a wonderful
personality. She's one of those rare cats who isn't hyperactive nor
does she tend to knock things off the top of the furniture.
Possibly because she's seen me do it so much, she frequently washes
her front paws before eating and invariably teaches her kittens
this.
Cali passed on June 3, 2005. As the last of her litter, she will
be missed. Another calico will soon be adopted, but none of them
will be as special as the kitten daughter and kitten son bottle
babies raised by hand.
